The issue never came up when they won it in the past. The only issue was the playing of two national anthems, it is a long time for the old ladies to stand.

I remember when the Jays won twice in the early 90s, and many of us Americans merely seemed to be worried that they would keep winning because - let's face it - they were an excellent team that looked like they were on the verge of becoming a dynasty.

I don't really think that too many Americans would ever get too upset if a Canadian team were to once again win what is still to many of us our national sport. The game is extremely international now anyway, with Latins, Asians, and even a couple Australians every now and then making their mark. The Blue Jays are, after all, yet another mix of many of these international players along with American players just like any other team is any more, so if they were to win again, I truly feel it would be no different than if any other team won for many fans. I can hear them now: "Darn! The Blue Jays won this year! Maybe next year, my (Fill in the blank here with your favorite team's name) will win it all! All we need to do is (fill in the blank with your plan, excuse, etc.), and we will get over the top! Maybe if we can just get Eric Gagne (a Canadian) in the closer role, we can win it all!"

Even though I am American, I think I get upset more when an American team wins the Stanley Cup instead of the inventors of the game up north than I would ever get when a Canadian baseball team would win the World Series. If they can win it, more power to them.....

Just in case American hockey fans reading this think I'm a turncoat, I always cheer for the Canadian teams to win the Cup unless, of course, my beloved Avalanche are in the final....... My desire for the Canadians to win the championship of their national game can only go so far! :-)

Would Canadians get angry if Americans won the Stanley Cup again?

The US has won the Stanley Cup for 12 straight years!

The Blue Jays won 2 world series back in 1992 and 1993. Enjoy those and be happy.

They won in 1992 and '93. I was a little angry in '92 because I thought an American team should win. I was really angry in '93 because I like the Phillies.

But I wouldn't worry about it this time. The Jays aren't going to win anything for years to come. Not as long as they're in the same division as the Yankees and the Red Sox, although they did (barely) beat the Sox out for second last year. This year, not enough pitching and too many injuries.

They won back to back World Series in the 90's. I don't think anybody (except the fans of the teams they beat) was angry. Just because the team is based outside of the US doesn't mean Americans would riot if they won. Half the players in baseball aren't even American, so its really no big deal.

Toronto won back-to-back in 1992-93, and I was fine with that. If nothing else, it gave Canada and its fine citizenry a deeper stake in baseball and greater appreciation for how wonderful this game is.

Pretty embarrassing how the Marines screwed up presenting the Canadian flag that first night, though.

Anyway, how can anyone get angry at Canada? It's like -- and I truly mean this in a good way -- getting angry at your dog. You cannot sustain it, because the historical relationship has been far too lengthy, rich, and rewarding. And they make better lagers than any major American brewer. Canada has been just about the best neighbor imaginable.

They already did win it. I remember Joe Carter's walk off homer. Not sure of the exact year (I've killed a lot of brain cells since then). Sometime in the mid 90s.

I don't really recall any anger on the part of Americans because I don't think Toronto actually had any Canadians on the team.

I am an American and the Blue Jays are my favorite team, so no. I wouldn't be angry one bit.

They sing both anthems of Canadian and American if they play the world series at home field.
