Yeah...that's funny that you say that...I thought I was the only one. Now that my daughter is 13yrs old, she says she wants to be a Marine Biologist when she grows up too. HeHe! I just laugh under my breath because I don't want to discourage any options she chooses for her future. But, yeah...that's a great one! I now own a licensed child care facility and never went into anything relating to marine biology. What do you do now that you're all grown up?

I did, until I did research and realized it was hard to find jobs as a marine biologist. :( I actually started a Biology degree (I wanted to be an animal behaviorist) then switched to art (It's always been animals and art with me-those are my 2 passions) and now I'm switching back to animals with a vet tech degree.
My fiancee's first cousin studied to be a marine biologist, and is working as a assistant manager at a Starbucks!! She plans to go back to marine biology after she gets married (she's engaged)- she's planning to move somewhere where she can work in her field.
Marine animals are absolutely fascinating, all of them-from the tiniest plankton to the largest blue whale. I still think it's an amazing job if you have that kind of dedication and are willing to sacrifice everything for that passion. It just seemed too up-and-down for me.

I never even imagined being a marine biologist when I was a kid, but ended up becoming one as an adult! I ended up here because i was unemployed after college and i found out about a research study in Alaska that was looking for graduate students.

Probably because it is so glamorised on TV. I began watching the discovery channel when I was really young, which sparked my interest in the sea. Low and behold now I am a marine biologist/ichthyologist. The money sucks but it is never boring.

your still young so just choose the subjects you like best and go with that you never know you may change your mind, so the best bet is that you choose everything you enjoy doing. to be a marine biologist you have to take interest in biology.

i always wanted to be a marine biologist because it is a specific field of biology. i have always enjoyed working with animals, and i enjoy coastal regions, and the idea of getting paid to scuba dive and swim with dolphins, research a habitat that land-dwelling humans know so little about, and throw my hat in the ring to preserve and discover such interesting and little-known species and their ecosystems.
