It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk apacolypse.

Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask when is the apacolypse, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

Do you mean literally or the world as we know it? Literally many things could end it, provided they were catastrophic enough in scale. Some have been mentioned already. However, the world as we know it is quite a different matter. When there is a shift in the consciousness of humanity very quickly new ways of interacting with others brings about dramatic shifts in the world as we know it. New ways of living and new institutions are quickly put in place to reflect that shift in consciousness. This would be the new heaven and new earth.

Of course, a giant asteroid hitting the earth would bring the world to a literal end, but for what? There would be no one around to care or notice. The earth ending would be a moot point. And doesn't the world end for everyone when death calls? We no longer belong to the earth and the physical world then. Therefore, the end of the world is not the same as the total annihilation of the planet. There are gazillions of planets. What does this one little blue jewel matter to the rest of the universe? The end of the world has to have deeper more profound implications than just dying. Everyone does that .

Sir. Isaac Newton (about 1700) came up with the year 2060 after researching the Bible mathematically for 30 years. He's probably right in that we'll either be under water or starving - if we don't do something about climate change.

But, the metaphysical truth is that Reality - as it is - will end when you return to "being." In our ego state what we "believe" is true happens whether or not it is the case because our perceptions are distorted. Thus you can end a lousy world by dumping your defensive thought system, remembering who you truly are and what you truly want to experience. The common term for that experience is "heaven."

World War III (should there be one) would probably do the trick... As for when, hopefully not for a long while.
