*Watch out for this one!! You could change the y to a i but you could also leave it with a y! As in: "My 'business' (work or activity) involves a lot of 'busyness' (state of being busy)."

This is just stuff that you have already learned but have forgotten the rule to apply.

First set of words ( 1-5) you need to remember when a word ends in 'y' to change the 'y' to an 'i' when the letter standing next to it is a consonant and you want to add suffix to it .

Second group (6-10) are words where you want to add a suffix on to them so you must remember that if it ends in a 'y' and a vowel is standing next to it you leave it alone and just add the suffix. If your word ends in a consonant of a 't' or 'p' you will double the consonant and add 'y'.

Third group (11-15). A suffix is something added to the end of something else. ( This word comes to us from the Latin word of "suffīgere" which means 'to attach on top of').

A prefix is to 'fix or put before or in front of'. (This word is also from Latin "praefīgere" which is 'to set up in front of')

A 'root' word is the 'primary source' or 'origin'. This is the word we start out with before we add to it.

Last group of words are the 'root' words with a suffix addition.
When adding a suffix you sometimes need to change the last letter of the word. All these words have something in common, the all end in 'e'. The 'e' is put at the end of these words to cause the vowel in the word to become 'long'.
Remember 'y' is also a vowel so when you have two vowels together the first is a long vowel (most of the time). If you were to put two vowels together as in "desire+ous" would you need the last vowel in "desire"?

If you have questions about the spelling of certain words look in the dictionary on the web and you can see how they are supposed to be spelled.

Good luck. You can do this because you have the knowledge all you need to do is recall it. ;-)

Some phrases customs and so on weren't remembered obviously after the colonization. Example Appalachian tune is base on historic English people tunes however is obviously distinct musically. As good wellknown use makes a phrase correct or flawed. That is why they difference the dictionary periodically. Example American colour English color it grew to become wellknown in early America and grew to become right after a interval of time. Besides you understand the quote: England and America endlessly divided through the identical language.
