When a woman is pregnant, there is a hormone called beta-hcg. However, this may also be present in abnormal levels in other conditions, including some cancers.

They will draw your blood usually a small vial. Then the lab will run it through testing to test for the hormone HCG in the blood. It is not that painful...Had them.

It works much accurately. They test the level of your hormones. The hormones that are present when you are pregnant.
