I'm a 15 year old teen male in seond life and have had a few occasions of having sex with my girlfriend who is the same age. We are both adults well over the age of 18 in real life.

Is this wrong when under our laws of the US and Canada, the age of conscentual sex is 14 for both girls and boys. This is age appropriate sex, not ageplay where one avatar is much older than another and one of those being a child under 14.

Can corporate polices, those of Linden Labs, be made which contravene the law of the country where they exist in? Can teen sex in SL be legally banned?

I am at a loss with this question and it seems that the morality and community norms of life itself can be ignored on the interent in virtual worlds like these.

I would dare challenge Linden Labs in a Supreme Court trial to override the laws of the US or Canada or any other country with a Charter or Rights and Freedoms.

They seem to be treading on thin ground.

This is currently a contentious issue in Second Life as the issue of age play, where one of the avatars has a child's appearance, is seriously being investigated by legal authories in Germany and starting to be that way in the U.S. I know that this is not the case that you mention, but the same legal ramifications may exist for what many jurisdictions consider statuatory rape.

As far as the issue of Linden Lab's policies, while they give a liberal amount of latitude to issues that challenge legal statues (in-world casinos, for example), it is still their servers generating the content, so I feel that they have the right to modify their terms of service accordingly. Whether or not that they should is a different issue, but as Second Life is expanding rapidly (over six million accounts and rising), RL governments are becoming concerned over this and possible taxation issues.

My personal opinion is that it should not be illegal. After all, you state that the two of you are adults, and what is going on in-world isn't anything more than computer-generated images. Unfortunately, legal authorities might not see it that way, and we certainly do not want Linden Lab forced to close up shop due to some government intervention.

No, its "no longer unlawful" for a minor to have intercourse under the age of sixteen... yet, if some one over the age of 18 has intercourse with a minor under the age of sixteen, then its completely unlawful as that guy or woman, who's an grownup is being a pediphile and can be despatched to prison for statuatory rape, (5-15 years in maximum circumstances). Be because it may, if a minor has a baby, then the two the mothers and fathers shield it, or, the State steps in and has it accompanied out, if the minor isn't able to grant for the care of it. a toddler ought to 'on no account' be considered 'punishment' to every person! Its a cutting-edge from the LORD! To be cherrished and enjoyed... I desire you nicely.. Jesse

I have no idea what "Second Life" is but the fact that you state that you are both over 18 in real life tells me that no law in this country is going to care what you consensually do. You are adults and choose for yourselves who and how you are intimate with. I don't know what Linden Labs is either but they cannot make laws that over rule the laws of the land. The age of consent is 18 in most places. You can have sex younger than that in some places with parental consent.
Again, all the law cares about is your real, biological age and you have said that you are both over 18 so there you have it. You are in the clear.

They are treading on thin ice with their new policies, however, Linden labs is concerned with public image re: corporate clients than with the personal freedoms of their legally (rl) aged users.

Linden Labs reserves the right to do whatever they want in their world. As much as we may disagree.

you are really misguided, there is no 2nd life and you are not a adult. And the age is 18 for sex. Stay away from my 15 year old
