In order to become famous, you need to LOVE the thing that would bring you to fame. Actors and actresses are only seen while on the red carpet, during interviews, and in the movies and shows that have made them famous.
We never see the famous people doing their job... sitting on set, waiting around while lighting guys set the lights, sitting in a hot makeup chair for 2 hours, getting bossed around, having publicists tell them what they can or can't do while in public, doing the same scene over and over and over again until it's perfect.
Becoming famous involves more rejection than you can imagine. For every 25 auditions, you would get 1 callback. And for every 25 callbacks you'll get a decently paying, temporary job.
The majority of actors and actresses spend their lives doing commercial spots and one-liners in sitcoms, and if they're extremely lucky, they'll be the wise bartender in a low-budget movie.
The only way anyone can overcome these obstacles of a hard job, rejection, and not being recognized is by absolutely loving what they do... why do you think that incredibly rich actors and actresses continue to look for work, even when they're already as rich and famous as anyone can imagine them to be?
Because they love what they do. To be famous, fame can't be your goal. Acting and modeling and dancing are almost completely dependent on other people recognizing you and other people deciding that you're cool enough or funny enough or beautiful enough to be popular.
Make it your goal to be the best at something you love. Fame may come with it if you are lucky and talented enough. There is no sure way to be discovered, but the best way to do it is by pursuing what you love to do.

Nickelodeon is having a contest right now, so if you really think you stand out that may be your chance. Check out http://www.nick.com/all_nick/shows/metv/
Otherwise, you have to have your parents undying love, support & money to even think about getting started. You have to decide where your strengths are and use that as as a starting point. If you decide it's modeling, then you have to send photos to the agencies in NY and see if they want to see you and if they do then you have to move. You also have to take dance. Models need to move gracefuly even if they can't pull off full on choreography. Get into ballet and try real hard to get it right!
If it's acting you want to start with, you have to move to LA and pound the pavement to get an agent while you take acting classes and workshops.
In all likelihood, you will not be discovered, if you become famous you will have to work very hard for it. If you truly want it bad enough, and you have the support that you need then go for it.
I strongly suggest you start locally. Look into community and regional theatres and get into some classes and workshops and see if you do well. If everyone seems to think you're meant for bigger things, maybe you can convince your parents to make the move.
Good luck!

Good luck! I can sing too, I mean I really can sing. The problem is that every girl in America thinks she can sing. So for those of us who really can it is hard to get people to listen. All I can say is find an agency that has a long history. And never never never pay any money to them. If they are a real company then you wont owe them any money. Plus, dont go into it just wanting to be famous. You need to have a desire for singing or modeling. Otherwise you wont be noticable enough and show agencies your passion for your work. Remember its still work, the fame may come or it may never.

Are you taking acting/singing classes? Are you applying at modeling agencies? Are you going to auditions? If you're not doing all of those things then you're just like EVERY other 13 year old who dreams of being famous. You'll get over it.

American Idol? oh you have to be 18 for that. You have to get a talent agent. Backstage magazine is where all struggling actors, entertainers go. Start there, get a subscription, they have casting calls and everything.

You should get an agent, or do a reality TV show when you're older.
