for console games it is definitely Forza GT for xbox.
Expect Forza II which has been delayed like fifteen times to be even better. GT4 is not bad but nowhere near the realism.

F1 Championship Edition for PS3 is an awesome game, very realistic.

If you're an F1 fan, you've got to try the Formula 1 Championship Edition on PS3. It's about as realistic as they come.

For NASCAR Racing, NASCAR Racing Season 2003 has been the most dominate. EA can't touch it. However it is aging and there are some smaller companies coming out with replacements.
