It is amazing that a completly neutral question still can have ideological venom spit at it.

I do have a side, by the way, I just choose not to let it be a part of the premise of my question.

It is very hard, because there are very serious issues that both sides feel very strongly about. I know that both sides have valid points and would love to hear people talk intelligently, admit when they are less informed or just plain wrong, and be respectful of other people's views. If that were to happen though, politicians would have to be more careful, because people would focus more on them, rather than echoing party line paradigms.

Some questions are so insulting, rather than turn the other cheek they go at each other. I go after people when they insult. It's human nature. If you ask a reasonable question, you will get reasonable answers most of the time. You'll get occasional insults. It goes with the territory when you're asking questions. I don't dislike Liberals. I dislike Modern Day Liberalism. I think it's destructive to the human condition.

Yes and here's why. Presented with a problem, a liberal will look at many sides if an issue and make a decision based on information gathered in the process.

For the conservative, the answer is always "lower taxes".

Not always. Some of my best friends and most respected colleagues are extremely conservative, and we agree to disagree on certain issues. Sometimes we find common ground, but we always manage to keep it seperate from our relationship.

On Y! Answers, many people just try to get a rise out of others. It's still not considered good manners to debate politics in public, so many extremists (on both sides) try to force their ideology in the form of insults. I find it crude and ignorant.

I have yet to find an intelligent debate when it comes to politics anywhere. It only proves that many people are convinced in their own superiority, that they are incapable of considering another point of view.

They cannot even get along in this forum, how do you expect them to get along anywhere. It is not just in the US. Canada and Britain have the same problems, as does France and every other country where "free speech" is allowed. Now if we could only take away everyones' rights, then we could get this whole mess straightened out.

Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? That is because it is. People are people and wish to have their own views upheld. Due to a genuine lack of english grammar, most cannot express themselves without personal attack. Education does tend to equalize this problem within the human community. The right to free speech is what lets people act like this in public forum. The anonymity of the internet is what encourages it.

I agree, While I don't agree with most of the other side, I don't think they are communists, evil, stupid, morons, ect. ect. Many people seem to feel that their opinion is fact. If you ask me what 2+2 is, I will say 4 since that is fact. If you ask me whether 3 or 4 is a better number, I may say 4 because is it an even number, and has and even square root. You may say that 3 is better becasue it is odd, and a prime number, making it unique. Neither of us are right or wrong, or smar or stupid, just have different opinions.

When what stands for modern conservatism includes

Dismantling the Constitution of the United States...

Denying minorities their right to vote
(including African American & Hispanic soldiers serving in Iraq)

...Giving taxpayer dollars to churches
(It’s illegal and always has been...it's a clear violation of the separation of church and state as guaranteed by the United States Constitution)

...Arresting people without probable cause

....Spying on people without warrant...

Removing U.S. attorneys for not participating in right wing dirty tricks

Legalizing torture

Waging oil grab / holy crusades based on intentionally planted lies to get the public behind the conflict........

Hundreds, literally hundreds more examples like those listed above....how can we/you not stand in opposition

My question to you Mr. Question Asker

How are you not offended?

Liberals are merely defending what used to be the American way of life...American values...the American soul

I ask you, Mr. Question Asker and those claiming neutrality....Are you paying any attention? Look at the few examples listed above....you're ok with that?

I'm not

I love my country

and Bush, his corporate owners, the hate sect of the Christian Church, and the right-wingers posting here are creating an America no freedom loving person should want any part of.

I hope this helps you and those claiming neutrality, understand.

Mike...i concur with your analysis of the environment here. and, congratulate you on doing it with a minimum of words.

i think it mirrors the divisions being manipulated in society by groups looking to advance their own agendas. "you're either with us or against us"...is stupid at first sight; but, the ignorance it highlights is even more amazing when you reflect on it. intolerance is what it is all about and cooler heads better start discussing the consequences or we're all in trouble.

I don't think so. Those questions are posed that way to incite intense debates and discussions, even the occasional insult.

I don't take none of this seriously. This is the internet!!!

I mostly do my trash talking because its fun and it gets me through the work day.
