It really makes me sick that some people think that two men or two women should not have the right to be married. I am not homosexual, but I do have gay friends, and they deserve every right that a straight couple has.

It is wrong to not recognize same sex marriage, just as it was wrong to enslave African Americans and not allow them to have rights. What right does anyone have to say that any human being should not be allowed the same rights as another human being. You don't have to live in the marriage, be in the bedroom or even be friends with a same sex couple, so why does it matter so much. People need to focus on their own relationships and happiness rather than trying to bar others from having what should be rightfully theirs.

Oh, and by the way, I do not see it as a morality issue. Love for another person should never be classified as immoral. I know it comes as a surprise to some, but OMG homosexuals do give to charities, help the homeless, cure cancers, help children, etc...just like straight people. And immorality stretches across every race, religion and sexual preference.

No, it should NOT be in any way nationally recognized. I do not want rules and regulations regarding marriage to be decided on a national level, because that increases the chance that one loony president can veto the laws. Filibusters in Congress... all of the nonsense that federal laws have.

Federal regulation of morality has NOT worked in the past (Prohibition, anyone?) and it will NOT work in the future. It's bad enough that state and local governments can make morality into law, without making it a federal thing.

Can you imagine being charged with a felony crime for breaking a federal marriage law? Imagine having all divorce hearings be at the federal level? No... very much not a good idea.

Yes! With out a Shadow of a doubt. Why should they be penalized for finding their true love, they can't help it that they just happened to be the same sex. Homosexuals should be able to experience the same benefits as a heterosexual couple. I see no reason why they should not be allowed to get 'legally married'. I have so much more to write, I just can't put it into words, sorry. But the short answer is yes, they should be nationally recognized

Yes. Why should straight people be the only ones to suffer? But seriously, I think it would be fair. Gays and lesbians in committed relationships should be able to receive benefits the way married couples do (health insurance, being able to visit their partner in hospitals, etc.). The unions between people of the same sex should be acknowledged legally.

The way I look at it is like this, if gays/lesbians can live together as a couple and act and treat each other as if they were married then why not just go ahead and make it formal and make it so that they can marry and have the same rights and privelges bestowed upon them,i.e. insurance, as us heterosexuals.
Just because I see two guys holding hands or kissing and it repulses me doesn't mean that I have the right to deny them of their happiness. To each his own.

No the Bible does not recognize it so why do we humans think we actually have more power thn God to rewrite the holy book? We will never learn about messing with higher power for our own good. It never works and bad things usually happen when we do. The needs of the few does not outweigh the needs of the many. What a persons choice of sexuality is should remain behind closed doors at home and if they dont get the same benefits of a recognized marriage the so be it. Theres always consequences resulting from our choices so no benefits is the result of theirs. Leave their choice at home and dont publicly throw it down our throats. Society owes nothing to any of us. Its their choice

Yes! No one should be treated as a second class citizen. Imagine this your partner of 15 years who has paid into a pension or some sort of retirement plan dies all of a sudden. You go to collect that money that was paid into that account and are told that your relationship didn't count as a relationship and your not going to get the money. Let just say you have kids with that person. Now you've lost your partner and are left alone without the extra financial support of your partner. Your bills are gonna keep coming because creditors could careless about your relationship. Thats just one example of what happens to gay couples because they are treated as second class citizen. Why should gays be treated any differently than a straight couple. Just try putting yourself in that situation and how lost you would feel. Its a feeling I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. All alone doors being slammed in your face because of the person you choose to love!

Of course.

Gay couples should know the wonders that are marriage. They need the same access to heart breaking, money sucking, life force crushing that comes with marriage. Why should they not be let in on the fun?

Sorry if this offends anyone, but it is just my opinion...I do not think same sex marriages should even be legal much less get the same benefits as heterosexual couples. Especially when it comes to adopting children...I could not imagine being raised by two women or two men...to me that is just disgusting and wrong. Not to mention, confusion for the child...I mean who do you call mom and who do you call dad??

I do not expect you to chose me that's alright, I am unpopular but I take Gods stance, His law. To be different from most people means to deviate, deviants are not entitled to priviledges because they took it on themselves to rebel from the norm.
God instituted marriage, it is for a man and a woman. Are you aware that pedophiles also want these rights? In every culture homosexuals are not openly accepted by society, when it was in the past--that society collapsed.
