Any University with a film school or department. You could start getting involved by helping student productions cast their projects! What would also be important are internships. I suppose it would be wise to attend school in Los Angeles so you could spend time on sets whenever possible. You could also intern in talent agencies, casting offices, production offices, etc. I think all of that experience helps you to understand every aspect of the business so that when you become a casting director and you cast someone, you have a broad understanding of what kind of person you should cast. Not just someone who read the lines well or looks pretty, but someone who interviewed well as a whole and when you spoke to them you knew that they would work well under all the conditions you had seen in your experiences interning on sets, etc. Good luck!

So interesting that the first answer is completely film-based, whereas this category is Theater & Acting. Perhaps this person wishes to be a Casting Director for the theater. A noble aspiration. My advice is study at any university with a strong theater program. Take extra acting and directing classes. When you cast your director projects, be creative and bold. All this will transfer to film and television as well.

It's not necessary to go to a University to learn to be a casting director.

Every casting director I've met learned "on the job," the same with Talent Agents.

It's not something one learns "in school."

relatively in maximum productions that's relatively the director who makes a great variety of the casting options. as a results of fact of this auditions do no longer initiate in the previous a director is chosen. frequently conversing theory once you flow into an audition infront of casting and a director they seem at your reliable factors. case in point: can your face/eyes painting the selection of emotion necessary for that character, do you fidget too lots, are you able to truly become the character that they like you to be. in addition they are going to often ask you some very own questions on your very own existence to get a sense for who you're clearly. in case you aspects somewhat some emotion jointly with your eyes and become a character without making it somewhat evident which you're appearing (that occurs alot, genuinely everyone seems to be too dramatic in auditions) and are an common to artwork with, versatile person, "casting directors" will stand at the back of you while they director makes the ideal options.
