hey boy whtz up man !!!
hey i hav that 1 gb ram and a nvidia 5300 gs + amd 3000 (this is 1.8ghz) + a gigabyte motherboard
and still vista home premium sucks on ma machine !!!
xp sp2 is like lightining fast !
if u have a really really really good processor and a graphics card and dont mind shedding a little xtra on ur ram only only then go for vista preium otherwise go for xp sp2!
but if u ilke vista like me . then u can have windows vista starter . aint got all the looks like aero and other stuff but works like xp!!!
u can say it is xp with vista logo !!!
but one thing that i personnaly have noticed is that if u have the right kind of hardware for vista ...... then applications running in vista will be almost double as fast then in xp but if u do this without the rite hardware for vista then u will regret !

For starting up the computer and certain applications, XP Home with 512 will be much faster. I just got a laptop with Vista and 1 Gb ram, and it takes forever to boot and get up and running, but the ram helps zip along once you get started.

you will easily choose extra RAM. The extra the merrier, yet I have not got any thought how sluggish you will run Vista with decrease than a Gig of RAM. I certainly have 4 Gigs of RAM and that i hate Vista's slowness lol. And as for the photos memory, you may desire to enhance your photos enjoying cards and stuff like that. however the questions are, what are you utilising your pc for and how a lot do you opt to do to this pc? a stable RAM improve to make your pc run easily would be a minimum of $60 and photos enjoying cards may well be expensive. And it extremely is all assuming which you comprehend a thank you to place in them your self. in case you in basic terms choose some thing to demonstrate screen video clips, play low-end video games, and do elementary abode computing with, then i might certainly propose buying a sparkling unit altogether. you may desire to get a good Vista close by pc from an digital shop for between $500-seven hundred or in case you're brave you may desire to (and that i might propose it) get a Mac. there's a Mac Mini unit for $599 that's a super device. i'm hoping you're happy with in spite of the fact which you finally end up doing and that i'm hoping my suggestion helped. Peace and robust success.

What are you trying to do? For gaming, on comparable rigs, XP is still the faster. For overall performance and to get ahead, go with Vista and upgrade the RAM to 2 gigs.

Not enough information to determine. Is also going to be affected by processor speed, available hard drive space, number of programs and services running in the background, etc.
But generally, the more memory in a PC, the faster that PC will run.
