I am 5'6", and like to wear sandals and shoes with a either a wedge, or a heel. But I am wondering how high is too high?
I feel like a giant as it is, since most of my friends are about 5'3"-ish.

I've worn 5 inch shoes, but I'm just crazy!! I'd say 2 1/2 to 3 inches is enough for you. It's sexy without being too much. Although this season, you cannot get high enough!!! Check out www.style.com for tips.

same here but try not to wear shoes with heels, I think too high is 5'8" to 5"10

So what? Your height is normal for a girl. Stop obssessing about your height and start thinking about the kind of person you want to be.
