There is no dirt in the hole because it is a hole.
A hole which is filled with something is not a hole.

well there is no dirt in the hole but the volume of the hole or the volume of dirt taken out of the hole is. 86.6 cubic feet of dirt.

I think. 6.5x8x5 =260 260/3 gives you 86.6 cubic feet
