No, it is prescription for a reason--it can be dangerous. It can cause ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, and often causes a women to be LESS fertile because it makes cervical mucus hostile to sperm.

Clomid is a great beginning fertility drug, as it's an easy to swallow pill and relatively inexpensive. The only advice I want to give you is to make sure that you get if from a Dr. and have the Dr. monitors ALL of your cycles of Clomid. Clomid can have the tendency to produce cysts in some people, but as long as your Dr. monitors you, he will make sure that doesn't happen. If you were to order them from the Internet, you would not be getting the proper monitoring, which could be dangerous. My personal experience with Clomid was that it was prescribed for four months with no monitoring.By the time I changed Dr., my ovaries were full of cysts and I have been having trouble ever since then. There is no way to tell if the cysts were there before or if the unmonitored Clomid produced them, but it really makes me wonder. Good luck!

I have taken Clomid for several months. It helped me to conceive 3 times. Although I would recommend it to someone if their doctor thought it was the right choice for them, I would not take it without a doctor's supervision. I have heard of women buying it on-line or in Mexico, but as with any prescription, how do you know what you are getting? Not only could it be the wrong ingredients all together, but it could also be the wrong dosage. Clomid helps to stimulate your ovaries to produce eggs. In doing so, it can hyper-stimulate your ovaries and cause your ovaries to become enlarged. When I first started taking Clomid, my doctor would do monthly exams to check my ovaries, but then switched to doing monthly ultrasounds instead. Clomid also has some other side effects that you should be aware of while taking it.

Hmm... in my opinion, it's probably not safe to take it without a prescription, simply because you don't know who the pills are coming from, and what he/she could have done to them!
There is an over-the-counter medication called Ovulex. I haven't taken it myself, but I have heard success stories from it. It's supposed to stimulate ovulation, just like Clomid.
Good luck!!

You should really talk to your doctor. If you are prescribed clomid, follow your doctor's instructions for taking the medicine.

No it isn't...you need to be monitored by a Dr. You can overstimulate your ovaries, which isn't a good thing.
