When buying a motherboard for a desktop, you got ATX and MicroATX (for the most part) so you can tell if it will fit in you're case. Well what about for a notebook? I'm looking for a new motherboard for my laptop but I dont know how to tell if it will fit or not. How can I tell?

EDIT: Ok, so I'm stuck with the stock, what about the CPU? Can I upgrade that?

When replacing a main board for a laptop, you will need to get a exact replacement for the model you are using.

There isnt a standard for notebook parts as there is for desktops. So, the makers pretty much build the notebooks anyway they see fit.

You can't. There is no standard size for laptop system board. They are unique to each make and model.

Check the website of the manufacturer of your laptop. If there are any other system boards you can use in that case, they will have the information there. But for 99.999% of all laptops, you are stuck with the board that it came with. (Sorry)
