I have been fighting it for a few years. I really don't like the baby blue Vinyl siding. I heard you can paint it. Has anyone done so? How did it turn out? What did you use? I live in New England.

There are special paints developed for the vinyl siding material. Vinyl expand in heat more than wood then contracts again as it cools so paint has to flex more on this surface. The other problem is a dark pigmented paint will absorb more infrared so heat up more. Vinyl will begin to distort in high temperatures, thus vinyl comes in light reflective colors. The result is you are stuck with the same color value of your current siding but at least a different pale color. If you want to be sure your new selection is no darker buy a sample of the paint and paint a small area. Take a photo in black and white. The gray value of each should match.
I went through this when I got new windows. Because I wanted a dark color I bought paintable fiberglass frames.

You can paint vinyl siding with a good quality acrylic house paint. Just make sure to wash the siding before you do as the adhesion of the paint will determine the life you get out of it. Don't paint in direct sunlight or if the siding is too hot as it will flash dry and not bond properly. The color selection mentioned by Garden is spot on, if you go with a color much darker than your present siding it will warp the siding as was mentioned.
