Just because someone is rich and famous, does that give them the right to point out there political views..... no matter how stupid they are? What about the poor homeless bum, who may have all the answers, but no one will listen to him because he is a homeless bum. It seems only the rich and powerful get elected into office, or have thier voice heard. Would you vote for someone who had the money to run a good campaign, (i.e. a rich spoiled brat.) or someone who has had a hard life and knows what it is like to be the little man?

Unfortunately, the "rich and powerful" are able to get the forums to be heard. I tend to agree with you, as do some of the political bloggers out there. Laura Ingraham's Book "Shut up and sing" was in direct response to the Dixie Chicks a few years back. Personally I listen to those 1. who have some experience in what they are discussing, and 2. People who have a tendency to be thinking about what they say, not just spouting off talking points.

There are two different kinds though...

Celebrities who became that way because they are very political and thought provoking...
Margaret Cho
Ani DiFranco
The Dixie Chicks
Rage Against The Machine
Creators of South Park
Michael Moore

And then there are the others who are money hoes -
Brittney Spears (who supports Bush)
Christina Aguilera (who supports Hillary)

I guess there is a 3rd type too.... the kind of celebrity that is in the closet about what they think until just the right time... and then they are EVERYWHERE... John Lennon was like this.

But It's not just liberals... Republicans LOVE to elect Hollywood Actors... look at Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarznggr and that guy from Law & Order.

I think Bush even had Green Day play at his inauguration... which makes them... less punk and more sell-out.

well seeing as how until we as a people stand up and fight it there wont be change, this does little good to debate over ... personally i'd rather the broke guy run our country .. being broke myself i think alot about the "answers" and honestly feel at 19 i'd do a better job of running the country than some of them .. i know there are things i dont know so dont think i'm some bratty kid who thinks he knows it all .. but some things are so simple it makes you wonder if they're just dumb or if they dont care ...for example .. you know the communities for the handicapped where they work and have meaning put into thier lives? why cant we set somethign like this up for the homeless? i mean you can only help someone so much so if they continue to slack off you have to cut them loose but at least give some people a chance you know? being this close to it i realize how people become homeless .. and to stop giving so many rights to groups who dont deserve it (illegals)

so much to do and so few who will listen

oh well .. canada here i come

No.

But being a part of this country, it gives them the right to state it if there is a camera there.

Have you seen how many like to post their opinions on here? I don't care about theirs, either. I merely wish to debate.

There is this thing called a remote control. If a celebrity comes on the TV and begins to spout their opinion, aim the remote at the TV, and push the channel changing button. Problem solved.

Man - maybe I should hire out! I could solve the world's problems!!!!

Sure do see a lot of celebrities up there on campaign rallies and things. I'd suppose there are some voters (not me!) who will vote in a certain way just because "The very famous, fabulous, handsome John Doe" advocates it.

Celebrities are just normal people, like you and me.
Maybe their opinion will be heard more often, because they have the opportunity to say it "louder". But if someone goes along with what they say, just because that person is famous, but they don´t think for themselves, it´s their own loss. There will always be leaders and followers. It´s our job to find our own way.

our society has elevate public figures like actors and athletes to an almost god like status. the down side is that they think that we care what they think on something besides their profession. from richest to poorest, we all have the right to express our opinions. unfortunately, the public figures actually get theirs printed. on the flip side, if that guy begging outside the grocery store that smells like he hasn't seen a bar of soap in 50 years told you the solution to the war in Iraq, would give him a buck or nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize. I think it is human nature to not believe someones analysis of large problems when they can't seem to sort out their personal problems. fair or not I think its just human nature.

I agree that it is going to no longer be one in each and every of those vast deal. whether it could desire to be a tragic actuality, it holds real that many view celeb information as suited. final analysis, they're purely human beings like genuinely everyone else, with a similar issues.

I could care less what they think! I just assume that most of them are being paid to support a candidate, and also they worry about supporting which candidate will in no way affect their popularity and/or give it a boost!

EVERYONE has the right to spout their political views. You're doing it right now, in fact. Ultimately, only one thing really matters, and it is not WHO is saying, but WHAT they are saying. Are they right, or are they wrong? That is all that is worth arguing about.
