My daughters pediatrician said that a slight fever while teething is okay, but anything over 101 degrees is not caused by teeth coming in and the baby should been seen. Since teething and an ear infection can often show the same symptoms. A fever associated with teething should come and go and only last as long as it takes for the tooth to break through. Other symptoms of teething can include diarrhea and lack of appetite.

Been there done that thre times and there are doctors that will swear up and down that teething does not cause fever or that there is no relation between the two. However, every child I had did indeed have fever, not very high though, with teething. Maybe there is not a direct connection but if the fever is there everytime there is teething then science tells us there is some kind of connection.
I think the highest our kids got was around 102 and it did not last for more than a day or so. Now what has happened before is that the teething cause congestion which can lead to an infection, etc.

Probably half the teething babies run a fever. It's usually low-grade - no more than 101.5F (any higher and it's probably not teeth) and can last 3 or 4 days.

All four of mine did!! It really never got over 101.0. I would think if it does get that high I would call the doc. The fever never lasted much longer than a few days at a time, but it did come and go. Along with 'cold' symptoms...cough, runny/stuffy nose, watery eyes..the whole works. Poor babies!!
Good Luck

My son only had mild fevers (99.0-100.5) when he was teething, but my daughter spiked a fever of 102.5 that lasted about a day when she was breaking a molar.
A workmate told me that her kids did fevers of about 104 when they were breaking teeth, even when her doctor said that fevers that high were not possible. As soon as the tooth broke, the fever went away.

it will last for a couple of days until the tooth comes through. Give the baby some of these ice rings , or animal, taht you put in the fridge to get cold, so the baby can bite on it . or a cold washrag that was in the fridge or freezer for a while. My boy had cheeks as red as an apple when he was teething!
