I'm 35 weeks and I haven't been checked for dilation (lazy doctors). The baby dropped at 32 weeks and I've been having irregular contractions for 2 weeks now. Last night I felt like I was peeing in my pants and I had a wet spot that was in a different spot than discharge normally is. I phoned my doc, but she just tols me that everything is pretty "juicy" down there and it's normal. Like I said, she's lazy.

This is a high risk pregnancy because my son is 11 mts old and he was a preemie and I was in L& D yesterday for contractions.

no there is not, if you have any question you must see your doctor in order to determine if your amniotic sac has broken. if so, the baby is at risk of infection and depending how far along you are, may need to be delivered or placed in the hospital

I had a similar problem when I was pregnant with my daughter.
I happened to go to the hospital for a different reason, and complained about this worry as well.
I know it may sound gross, but they told me I should smell my underwear.
Urine has a very distinct smell.
If it smells like urine, it probably is.
If it is amniotic fluid it will have almost no smell, and be more clear than urine.
Also, you will probably continue to notice the "leak" if it is amnio fluid.
I say do the smell check, and then moniter over 24 hours (or less) how much fluid you have lost.
If at all worried, by all means, go to the hospital!
Best of luck!

There is a test that checks for amniotic fluid (see the link below). I haven't been able to find it for sale in the U.S., though. If you're in the U.K. you're in luck (or they might ship it here).

Discharge and amniotic fluid are both coming out of the same place (your vagina) so the spot shouldn't be in a different place. It probably *was* urine. Even if it was amniotic fluid, if it hasn't leaked since and you haven't gushed, it's replenished itself by now. It's only a constant leak or a huge gush that you need to worry about. Good luck.

This is what happened to me at 33 1/2 weeks and a day later I gave birth. That said Id highly recommned going in, especially that youre only at 35w.

Is it a continous leak?
Sorry I forget here. but its either if you're laying down and it stops leaking or standing up and it stops leaking, that you know its fluid. One of those positions has something to do with how the pressure stops or starts the leak.

She's not lazy, she's right. Most of the time you won't be checked unitl you are 36 weeks. If you had a lot of fluid lose then I would go to the hospital, but for a little fluid that stops leaking after a few seconds it's probibly regular discharge...or you could have really peed your pants.
If you are unhappy with your OB I suggest you get a new one next time around.

If you go into the hospital they can check for you. I would just go in. It is better safe than sorry! I don't know any way to tell other than to smell it. my fluid had kind of a chemical smell to it. And I'm sure you know what urine smells like..... Good Luck!

Wear a pad and see if it fills up with in an hour or so if it does your leaking and the Dr needs to do something! If she's to lazy to do something about it see a different Dr they should understand and care for you better!
