My fiance just lost his job because they found out that he was looking for another job. While he was working, I was being the homemaker because the plan was that I was going to go to school full time this summer. Now though we have about sixty dollars to our name and rent is due next week. I also now have no money for school and we have a car payment due. I need money fast. I did temp work at the beggining of the week and he is doing labor work right now but they only pay six dollars an hour. We have never been this broke and I am terrified. Any suggestions?

We both have decent paying jobs starting next week but we need money sooner.

I would just like to say thank you to those who stepped off their high horse to give me advice versus those who apparently have everything together in their life and have never had to struggle financially.

Do what ever you can ( that's legal) until you can do better. (

First of all, it's illegal to fire someone because they were looking for another job. An employer may begin to question your loyalty, but that's all they can do. If he was wrongfully terminated, then he should sue. Was there another reason? Was he chronically late? Did he have an attitude problem? Was he as poor at his job as he is at handling money?

Secondly - File for unemployment at the welfare office.

Thirdly- let this be your wake-up call!

How did you end up without backup savings for emergencies??? Have you demonstrated similar irresponsibility with your rent paying??? If you've been paying on time, you should ask your landlord for a hardship extension. Where was your money going? Why are you marrying a man with no savings or stable income? Love doesn't pay the bills, dear.

Maybe you need to lose your car and your rental to learn that you should plan ahead for these things. Get smart.

If it's that imperative, I'm sure you can find a loan company that would give you a loan. Since you'll both have jobs next week (as you said) the first order of the day is to have a strong budget. Pay off IMMEDIATELY, that emergency loan you just acquired. AND live WITHIN your means. + Create an 'emergency fund'. You may never need to touch it. But have it simply for your own feeling of security. Do what needs to be done BEFORE life becomes a crisis.

Why would you marry someone who is incapable of taking care of you or himself financially.
Let me guess....you are under 21 years of age? You are just too young to even think about getting married.

For the record....I was giving you the best advice on this thread. It just wasnt the advice you want to hear.
Reality, you shouldnt even think about getting married until you are both financially stable and have quite a bit of savings, and investments. Sorry, the "we are both going to have good jobs in a week" really isnt being financially stable. Im talking about having a nest egg of at least 20 grand.

In a notice: confident. With $161K i might think of you may desire to stay to tell the story for a on an identical time as till your spending is intense. in the journey that your residing expenses are $30K a year, then you definately might stay to tell the story a minimum of 5 years. however the bigger concern may well be why you may plan to be out of artwork for some years and once you intend to pass lower back. and how long do you intend on staying with mom (or how long will she plan on letting you reside?). temporarily, what's fairly the plan on your life?

I wouldn't suggest a loan or credit card unless its the final option.

The best thing would be borrowing of family, but not everyone can do that.

Pawn shops can provide some cash and you can buy back you stuff as they carn't sell it for a week or so.

Pawn shops can offer you that fast solution. If you own your own car, you can try a title pawn place.
