1) There are things that are so negative or damaging that they should not be available to the public because there is no possible positive result that could come from these things being available.

2) Censorship of books from school libraries gives control to the parent to choose what their child is or is not allowed to read. Children are not able to choose what is best for them, and certain books should not be available to them because there is a possibility of a child reading something that their parents do not wish them to read because of their age or maturity level.

3) Lack of censorship across large numbers of people may lead to the formation of a minority group with a dangerous or damaging idea. While the idea is not supported by the majority of the populace, censoring can prevent a potentially devastating minority group from finding each other and acting as a group against a particular race or type of person.

Censorship is a very general thing, and the effects would vary quite a bit depending on who administers the censorship, and why... From whose point of view am I supposed to consider this? The censor, or the "censee"?

1) You have the ability to control how people feel. At one moment, you can filter all sorts of bad information, to make them happy. The next moment, you can bombard them with propaganda to plant seeds of anger towards some group of people.

2) You could filter out anything (or anybody) that speaks against you, and stabiliize your grip on the people.

3) Your group will become much more productive, because you keep morale high.
