In this country, when you are investigating a murder, it is generally assumed that, in order to prove murder, one has to find the body. (As with everything, there are exceptions, so let's not get into semantics, okay?)

Why do some people advocate the cessation of the hunt for bin Laden simply because he's "probably dead"?

any1one: I would know that the person responsible for the death of my best friend (Tower One, 9/11/01) was not being given the opportunity to come after me.

True, Bin Laden cannot be dead because we would have already picked out his body.

Theres proof that he is not dead because he still sends videos of him self to the Whitehouse and many news networks.

Most people think he is dead because we can't find him, this is not the case here, its not that we can't find him, but its that he can't be found.

To directly answer your question, No, "Bin Laden is dead and you know it" isn't a reason at all to not search for Bin Laden. Theres no proof that hes dead, we never found his body, so we can't assume hes dead and not look for him.

Remember, we're searching for Bin Laden whether he is alive or dead, if we find his dead body in some cave, then we did indeed find Bin Laden, he was just dead which would confirm that a search is no longer needed. However if we just assume he is dead and forget the search for him, that would give him time to possible plan another terror attack on the U.S or any other country.

I don't know. I don't think it's a good idea. After WWII ended, there were rumors for months that Hitler was still alive - living in Argentina, in the Alps, in Norway, hiding in Berlin. The Allies tried very hard to find him and find out the truth one way or the other, but they were stonewalled by the Soviet Union. They did everything they could to find the truth, though, because they did not want people to be afraid, and they wanted to make sure the danger was over. I think the same energy should be applied to Bin Laden today. It's the same thing.

He's not dead.Bush knocked down the towers.Bin Laden didn't.If Bin Laden was dead, then why we always have tapes and incoming things from him or so called Al-Qaida.Look well into the government, history and little hints left behind.

And,I think pretty much the government controls the media, one way or another.

Another thing,if they were capable of finding Saddam Hussein, how come it's that hard to find Bin Laden?Let's be serious. It's not that hard to think about it.Bush is holding the real truth.

I would never trust the administration or Al-Qaida.Simple as that.Besides, terrorism can happen everywhere by anybody.

Look what's on the news today so you can get an idea of things:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/05/23/bush.iraq/index.html

If we would see images of them capturing one of our soldier's head, why wouldn't we do anything about it?How come we bother with Saddam Hussein first and not Bin Lader/Al Qaida, which should be the most imporant?Do you think we are really on Iraq after "freedom" and all that.We all know it is oil right now,but not many knew that in the beginning. After all, they probably expect that since it's been almost 6 years,we probably are not bothered as much. And,if we were there for freedom, why our gas prices keep rising, specially if the barrel is not getting any expensive? With all the technology and resources, with all that has happened and what's going on,do you really think it was really just Bin Laden?
After all, remember when his father was around?

NO. And no one (who matters) is calling for a cessation of the hunt.

But it is dishonest to put the hunt for Bin Laden at opposite poles from the war in Iraq. They are not mutually exclusive.

Because "some people" want us out of Afghanistan and Pakistan. It's just an excuse. I know for a fact that we are still looking for him OR his body. My friend's husband is one of the ones over there doing just that.
********
My sympathy on the loss of your friend. I lost a very good friend at the pentagon and 2 of my friends lost spouses in Tower 1 also.

some human beings have discovered who needs our defense force in Afghanistan and why. i'm hoping i'm incorrect, yet my terrific guess is our defense force would be in the middle east for a on an identical time as. we'd desire to even see a conflict with Iran.

I will not be happy until I see one of our Spec Ops guys dragging him out of a spider hole by the underwear he wears on his head. Preferably dead at the hand of an American.
