I doubt the vanity of human eyes could do God's image
justice; the imperfection of human eyes must narrow
the perfection of God to inaccurate representation.
The human who looks on God might be tempted to
think that God is an attainable state.

The issue is that it is impossible.

For those who do not believe in such an Entity the question does not arise at all.

For the believers in an Infinite, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent God this is certainly an impossibility. Because how can an Infinity have limits and organs like eyes for some one outside to look into?

Can Infinity have defined edges and something out side it?

Why should It be a 'He'? Why a human or at least human looking? Black, Brown. Asian, Caucasian?

Clean shaven? Bearded?

The concept of God is man made. Each religion has its own view. Mine (Hinduism) sees God as an infinite variations of manifestation: Male, Female, Animal, Plant, and Inanimate, and in the final analysis as formless, genderless, Pure Awareness,'I Am That I Am'.

This 'I' will have to die to see that 'I'.

answer 1. i already did, it was in the most intense mushroom trip i ever had (no, i don't do drugs anymore, and that was partly why. there are some things that change you irrevocably).

answer 2. i already did. about ten minutes ago. in the mirror. now go read "Stranger in a Strange Land".

answer 3. the idea of a supreme god is silly, especially one that looks human. the question loses all meaning when you consider that humans are not the highest or most advanced form that life can take, and if god exists as a being that being is much more likely to reflect the form of something much more evolved than us.

answer 4. if by God you mean eternity, the Divine, transcendance, the supremely ineffable, (ie, a non-personal God, god as non-being) then heck yeah! it can't get any better than that!

After seeing the artistic works and appreciating the magnitude of detail and effort, the love and the gentility and subtlety and boldness and vibrancy, I must admit I am eager to meet the Artist.

Oh I definitely do. And I believe I will...when I die. I believe very firmly in God, but I'm not sure what happens after death. I just feel like we will all meet God and talk with Him for a bit. I know it sounds naive, but it's just something I feel very strongly.

I experience the Presence of my version of God ( A Mother Goddess ) who is always with me and protects me. I hardly need to SEE her.

can't see the trees as the forest blocks your view?
can't see God as all of his creation blocks your view?

if you can't see God everywhere chances are you won't see him anywhere.

As far as fantasies losing "something" after they are realized I think that is surely dependent on each individual

Is your concept of "God" really someone whom you can literally look in the eyes. I'm an agnostic, but how strange!
