I try not to focus on what is out of my control. Living in a state of "what if" is not a positive way to live. So I change the things I can.

I believe in the Serenity Prayer:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

I quit smoking, only drink once in a blue moon, exercise more, eat ONLY healthy foods. I want to live my life to the fullest and the only way to do that is to consume the good in life.

After some contemplation on this question, I don't think
there is anything which is beneficial change that
can't be changed. Of course there are consequences,
but I wouldn't want to change those consequences because
the consequences are a means of receiving feedback
on appropriate behavior. Therefore, life without
consequences must be more contributive to ill-behavior.
That said, not all feedback is relevant feedback.
I am certain I have bad habits, but would the cost of
disturbing those habits cause worse habits. I make
mistakes, but I would rather be flexible and open than
be rigid and closed.

Everything that I have and hold dear such as friends, my employment, my home, etc. have been gained or lost through a process... a chain of decisions, actions and determination on my part. That's what life is about.

To simply change things instantly bypasses that process and cheats one out of the journey that is life. There are lots of things that I want changed of those you mentioned, because I am at a stage of my life where goals kept on the backburner for many years are overdue for realization. But I would not choose to give up those experiences I'm owed in their realization.

So in short, I'm good :-)... think I'll pass on the offer.

Peace

If I could change anything, I would take away the mental illnesses that have plagued my family. Mom had depression, dad was bipolar, neither sought treatment. My sister was bipolar (again, no treatment, until she was 68 and became violent after having surgery and had to be put away) and me. I was diagnosed as having GAD and have been in therapy for 5 years, and take medication. I hope sometime in the future the stigma attached to mental illness disappears. The most unfortunate part of my family's and my illness is the fact we are above average in intelligence but the illness always got in the way of ever achieving anything.

I'd have to say job- but I must admit I need a self esteem boost! I've been at the same job for 17 yrs and hate it- due to a difficult boss and general burn out. It has been a long time since I've job hunted (and I moved to a new state with this job) so I'm feeling a bit intimidated with by the whole process.

The one thing that I would like to change in my life right now is to bring everyones friends and family home from Iraq and Afghanistan alive...well...and intact both heart mind body and soul. To give all the Mothers a chance to hug thier Sons Fathers their daughters and Husbands Wives and children the same benefit.

Car.
My old beater is giving me fits. I want a new(er) car.
Not earth-shattering, I know. But other than the danged vehicle, I am doing pretty darn well.
