I working on a short response for history about events that affected America and if someone could answer this question, it would help me finish my response! Yay. I also have a little sub question. I can't remember when it is appropriate to use effect or affect. An answer to that question is optional, I was just asking. Thanks for your help!

the first Gulf War in the 1990's actually showed how the UN could approve and the US could lead an international coalition to reverse the illegal use of force by one nation (Iraq) against another (Kuwait).

We actually MADE money on Operations "Desert Shield" and "Desert Storm", because the (extremely wealthy) neighboring countries were happy to pay for a little stability, and we were happy to help provide some.

the Gulf war was seen, internationally, as necessary because Saddam invaded Kuwait and they could not repel his attack. we were the heroes unlike the current invasion of Iraq where we're the rogues.
