It's a 1985 Toyota van. I turned the wheel while parked with the engine off. Now it squeals like a car taking a corner too fast every time I make a sharp turn. Adding fluid doesn't help. What did I break and can I fix it?

You might check the belt and see if it is loose or worn. If not the power steering pump may be going out.

Try tightening or replacing the power steering pump belt.

i own a repair shop, and you might need a new belt on it,try adjusting that one first to see if that stops it,but if it looks old and dried out,it will just do it more ,you,ll wind up having to replace it,good luck with it,hope this helps.
