There are different cultures that believe that eating something cold after delivery affects the body's yin/yang balance and flow of chi...but there is no medical reason to eat only hot things, just homeopathic beliefs, so you should take into account what your culture believes, but eating cold things will not hurt you or your baby... ( I was craving a tuna fish sandwich and coffee coolata with skim milk...)

I ate a cold Subway sandwich with an ice water about an hour after delivery. It was SOOOO good after not eating for all those hours in the hospital...

After 32 hours of being in labor and not being allowed to eat, I ate a cold ham sandwich and a pepsi. It was the best sandwich I had ever eaten.

You can eat anything you like that is healthy for you and the baby.
It sounds to me like an old wifes tale/advice (maybe in times of food shortage or wars where families had to make sure that the children and pregnant/nursing women got enough nutritious food) where they wanted women to eat calorie rich/fat foods to get their strength back. We don't really have those needs in our society anymore, so enjoy what you feel like.

Nope, you can eat whatever you want. Something healthy would be a good idea though.
