A clumsy pirate accidentally (drunkenly?) boards a high class ship instead of his pirate ship the day before departure. He wakes up and realizes he is stuck at sea among ladies and gentleman. He pretends to be one of them, stealing clothes from the luggage of a man who was left behind (perhaps the pirate slept in this man's bed, and when they did a head count before departing, they assumed the pirate was this man). So the pirate assumes this man's identity, planning to steal from all the rich people on the ship.
During the 4 week long trip, though, he begins to make some real friendships, which he has never experienced (since his pirate friends are usually greedy and self-serving). His convictions are no longer as strong as they were when he first planned to rob them. Especially because of the beautiful daughter of one of his older gentleman friends.
Then, the passenger ship is attacked by the pirate ship that our main man was supposed to be on in the first place. The pirate-turned-gentleman must choose between his pirate-past and his newfound love of the honest life.
He chooses to stay with the passenger ship and helps ward off the pirates, but his true identity was revealed during the skirmish, and the gentlemen no longer consider him an honest friend. The pirate is kept locked up on the ship until they land, and he is turned over to the authorities. After a daring escape, he begins his search for the woman he fell in love with, with the authorities at his heels every step of the way.
His old pirate buddies confront him, and attack him, and leave him for dead. The pirate is found by the authorities and he is so maimed, he isn't recognizable, and is brought to the hospital.
At the hospital, the pirate is being treated by the woman from the ship, the woman he loves, but she doesn't know it is him. Over the weeks, and from beneath his bandages, the pirate asks her about love and if she's ever been in love. She professes that the only one she ever loved turned out to be a dishonest pirate who probably didn't even love her back.
He doesn't tell her his true identity, and she falls in love with him as if he was a different person. The bandages come off, she recognizes him, the truth comes out, there is love and happiness. He professes that she is the thing that made him want to be an honest man, and they live happily ever after.
- I don't mind if you use this idea, but do recognize that it is much more satisfying to make your own story than to use one that isn't yours at all.

How about a pirate who is a ghost pirate that terrorizes all the living pirates in a special "zone". It could be like Pirates of the Bermuda Triangle...

The sun just setting over the distant horizon Full-grown Joe (Pirates name) stumped over to the edge of the beach, sat down, rested his arms upon his knees and gazed outwards watching the sun as it sank below the horizon in a brilliant display of roses, oranges and pinks.
You can change the name if you like,

Figure it out yourself or it's not your story.
Try doing some research on real pirates, don't just rely on PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.
