The organization and the team tanked games during the regualr season to increase their chances of winning the lottery and look what happened LOL

Poor celtics fans, they didn't deserve this.

Danny Ainge, what goes around comes around buddy....just ask Avery Johnson and the Mavs

It's perfect, i mean its just awesome. Poetic justice. The celtics should be ashamed of themselves. They had players come out and admit that they were tanking. I feel for the fans like u do, they deserve much better. As for the blazers, i don't see a need to trade either of those guys, especially is Aldridge is willing to be a backup. Oden is a good compliment to Randolph in that he doesn't need to score, he can if you need him, and he'll certainly get better, but, u can just put him on the offensive glass and let him go to work. On defense he's a great help defender, so with two other big bodies he'll plenty of opportunities to be a weak side defenders puttin up Camby type numbers.....MAYBE!!

I have never liked this system of the draft lottery nor did I like it when Houston Rockets flipped a coin and won the 1st draft choice either this was in the 1980's. (even though I am a Rockets fan and they got Hakeem) So what is the answer? It should be a question why does the NBA do this? So they can have the teams that don't make the playoffs watch a game of the playoffs, ratings? What's up commissioner? It should be bottom four teams and that is it. Any other year it would not make a difference this year it does because 2 players stand out and the rest of the players in the draft are journeyman because it will be 2 or 3 years before they make and impact on there team. Do you remember last years #1 pick? I don't!!! I have to go back to LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony as # 1 and # 3 picks that two players make such a stir, and that was how many years ago? (In 2003 Detroit had the # 2 pick and took Darko Milicic from Europe) Before that I can only remember Kevin Garnet only because like James after him he came straight out of high school. Any body else that stands out? Not in my mind. Yes Odem and Durant stand out they could be impact players and the teams that pick them will benefit from them. But there has to better way. Look at the bright side the Clippers are not the laughing stock of the NBA anymore but it took them 10 plus years to get out. Maybe the Celtics will take 15 years. Sorry Celtic nation the Red Sox's rose out the depths and broke the curse. The Celtics need to lose Ainge like the Lions need to lose there GM!!!!!!

The Celtics aren't hopeless. Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Tony Allen, Rajon Rondo... they've got plenty of pieces that could carry them into playoff contention before many more years pass.

They have three big moves to make. They need to unceremoniously dump Danny Ainge. They need to hire a replacement with deep historical ties to the organization (Bill Fitch, maybe?). And they need to trade Paul Pierce, who is a great player but just doesn't mesh with their rebuilding effort.

The Celtics need a clean slate. They need to admit they're going to lose for a couple of years before they're ready to start winning again.

EDIT: As for the Blazers question, and Oden signing will definitely be accompanied by a trade. The Blazers won't sign him unless they're reasonably sure they can get rid of Randolph. I don't see the same problem with Durant; he can play SF, which is a position that the Blazers need. Udoka was a nice pickup last year, but he's barely started material, and Miles is dead weight that the Blazers would love to waive if they could just find a good reason.

Sweet revenge for blazers not getting first pick last year. even better player at number one. The Blazers should try to pick up Rashad Lewis in Free agency and trade Zach for a pick or a SG or for depth.

C Oden
PF Aldridge
SF Lewis
SG Webster
PG Roy

They have a nice back up PG with Jack, SG/SFin Outlaw and Center Pryzbilla. Udoka is an ok back up at sf who hustles. If they can land a decent starting SG by trading Zach that can help Webster mature then the team will be excellent in 2 years. If they get rid of Zack they will need a back up PF.

bull***t!!

the draft is not honest, and i'm beginning to think that it never has been.

it's just amazing the regularity that the draft defies the odds and probability - isn't it - almost makes you think that something else is at work.

you laugh at the celtics now - who are in their 20th year of their rebuilding, but celtics fans like me are beginning to remember the little things that the league did to assure that they wouldn't be competitive.

things like making the c's carry reggie lewis' salary against their cap AFTER HE DIED!

and the tim duncan rip off.

but go ahead and laugh - some of the largest and most profitable markets for the nba are located in the nba east - this year the worst division in basketball history - what a laugh riot!

just hysterical!

couple that with the indifference this year about this finals (are they over, started - what) and i'm not sure that there is a whole lot to look forward to.

but here's my preview of next season:
the nba east will be weak again - a team with a .500 record or so will win it.

some team from the west will face detroit (again) and the deciding game will be settled at the free throw line going down to the last seconds - just like last year and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and the year before that.

can't wait for the empty arenas in boston and new york - it'll be great!

I agree about the Celtics. They have a horrible past, with drafts and trades. So screw them.

But in Portland, the plan is to move Zach Randolph. Kevin Pritchard is all about character, and Zach is constantly at strip clubs.

So, my guess is:

Jarret Jack G
trade Zach for a SG
Brandon Roy - SF/SG
LaMarcus - PF
Oden - C

Welcome to the playoffs, BABY!!!

Oh well, Oden's not going to take anyone to the promise land anyway, and Durant will be an ok player, maybe, if he doesn't end up being a thug.
