I have a 1999 Accord and it has been stalling while I am driving and it is very random when it does this. I have been told there was a recall on the car that could be the reason behind this or it could be the fuel pump. Does anyone have any other ideas what could cause this so I don't spend hundreds for mechanics to look at it?

if the car just cuts out when driving then the problem is most likely with the ignition switch that is subject to a Honda recall. The ignition switch is the piece behind the lock cylinder that you put you key in to start the car. Over time the contacts in the switch wear out and you lose the electrical power to the fuel and electrical system. If it is the ignition switch the car usually starts right back up after stalling.

the recall will be done at no charge by any Honda dealer regardless of the mileage on the vehicle or whether or not you are the original owner.

Have them do the recall first. That will in all probability fix your problem. If, in the unlikely event that the car continues to stall after the recall is done, then put another post out.

hope that answers your question
