There's alot of questions on here about step-parents having sex with their step-children, sons and daughters lusting after their own parents, step-siblings and biological siblings fancying each other...husbands and wives cheating...
Is nothing sacred anymore? It's not just on here, I have encountered people in real time who have these thoughts and feelings...it's really getting me down.
I am no saint but geez, where do people draw the line and also, when did all this stuff start to become acceptable? I know life isn't black and white but holy cow, shouldn't we try and hang onto some form of sanity here?
Has society gone down the shute, or is it just me that has a problem with all this?
What are your views on such things?

I'm a fairly open minded person...you can read my answers to alot of questions and yes, I am judgemental at times...who isn't? We all have disagreed over some topic or other at some point.
I just wanted to have my say on here and I am curious as to what others' opinions are...after all, that's why we come on here, right?!

I agree. society is just too lenient nowadays, accepting every damn thing because it's the "21st century" or whatever.... most people have no morals anymore, especially the younger generations (& that's my generation, which makes me feel backward..)...it's very sad actually..

There is a fine line with regard to morality in any culture. History tells us that morals change in a cyclical and regular fashion, one generation observing sexual mores that are more stringent than the previous generation observed, and more stringent than the generation to follow. And that is what is happening for us in contemporary society. There was that whole free love thing in the hippy days of the sixties, followed by a generation in the eighties which rejected this and witnessed the advent of the moral majority, and now we have come full circle with the present generation -- where anything goes once again. It is interesting when you consider the phenomena in a historical context, for you see that there is actually an average morality that prevails. Either generation doesn't go too far from the average, before the next corrects it. Don't worry about it. It is what it is. All we can do as individuals is establish our own moralities and stick to them.

Yeah, I'm in agreement with several other people on here. These kinds of things have been going on since the beginning of man. If they hadn't, we wouldn't have needed to create laws against certain things.
We also have the media which is comprised of business people. They recognize that sex and scandal sell, so they report it more than death and dying. This is why people are more interested in who Britney is screwing this week versus the number of people who have died in Iraq. We can't do anything about Iraq (or so we think), and it depresses us, so distract us with the sex and stupidity, and we'll go, "Wow, she's an idiot!"
I know that's what I do, anyway. It's a battle I've been fighting with myself for years. I want to read celebrity gossip, but I know what I should be reading. It's the whole reason I quit watching television news. I don't want Brian Williams and his producers ideas of what makes news. I want to pick and choose my headlines.
But I guarantee you that child molestation, inappropriate sexual relations, and incest have been going on far longer than we'll ever know.

These thoughts you speak of have been around for as long as people have. Lately, with the advent of instant communication and a semi-anonymous outlet for expression, we see it in the light vs. it being in the dark.
Being more visible and accessible has led to the perception that it is more acceptable than it used to be. I doubt that people think about or do such things any more often than they did in the past.

These things have happened throughout history. However for the first time in history, these situations can instantly be told to everyone in the world. The media, especially with the advent of the internet, has shined the spotlight on these people for all to see in almost realtime.

It's not acceptable, it's just more noticable. Don't think it wasn't happening before the news reports, it just wasn't being talked about. Much like domestic abuse, it's always been there, but media can really put a spotlight on it. Unfortunately, the media is often callous and shameless in their reporting of unnecessary details, all for a good and accurate story of course.

One of the most poignant Bible scriptures on this subject is 1Corinthians 3:1-5 which goes into details on how people will be in "the last days". We must be in them.
More and more it is the people who say ewwww who are considered bad. I used to wonder how things were in cities like Sodom and Gomorrah, assuming you believe in them, before they got so bad God wiped them out. I think I now see. I recently was around an 8 year old who was/seemed Extremely aware of himself, sexually. It makes me sick.
I am by no means a great person, but I can't imagine doing the things that some people seem to do to children, and I don't even like children.
I often spend my Y!A time in the R&S section. It amazes me the amount of lies I see, when I say lies, I don't mean differring opinions, I mean out and out lies. One person answered questions about my faith, and every answer explained how he knew us and all we want is to molest children. I wanted to vomit.
I do hope that some of the more disgusting things said on here are just Big Talk by small people. One person who is clearly on, at least, her third ID loves making racist comments, and tries to justify them by saying that, "their kind" has good qualities.

The world has always been corrupt, it's just that now, we have the televsion news to try to convince us that it's really awful, and the only way to get through it is to buy something from someone while we still have the chance.

The fact that people would rather invest their time into "celebrity gossip" and stuff like that, instead of helping people in need. That bothers me.

It's always been there it just was taboo to talk about decades ago.
The internet provides the anonymity to talk about things you would be embarassed or ashamed to do in real life.
