At a latin dance class, you can wear whatever is comfortable. You do not need to dress as though you were going out to a nightclub. Wear what you might wear if you were going shopping. Often an instructor will recommend what to wear for the class before you start. Some will tell you right away that leather or suede soled shoes are required or highly recommended.
For classes, it is generally preferred to wear a leather or suede-soled shoe, although I find that a lot of wome now wear dance sneakers made by Capezio, Bloch, or Sansha. Or, you may prefer to wear character shoes that have a leather sole and an ankle strap. Character shoes are relatively cheap to purchase, whereas regular ballroom dance shoes are comparatively expensive.
Most of the women I see doing latin dancing wear a shoe that has both a leather sole and an instep strap. There are some specialty shoes available. The ballroom dance people tend to prefer the suede soled dance shoes, while the salsa and Argentine tango dancers may prefer the hard leather soled shoes. The hard leather soles make it easier to pivor and do "ochos" than the suede leather shoes.

Comfortable clothes! Flirty dresses or even yoga pants. And for goodness sake, if you wear a dress and plan to twirl, wear concealing underpants. Nobody cares about seeing your bottom in a G-string! Eeeek! Oh, and good-fitting shoes. No new (never worn) shoes, else you'll have blisters from you-know-where! Latin and Salsa (like most ballroom) calls for at least 2 if not 3 inch shoes, so get comfy ones with good turning soles. I've heard leather or suede is best, but DO NOT wear them outside!!! It ruins them!!! Best not to go for extra slim strappy shoes until your feet get used to dancing in that form. It's easier to turn an ankle in strappies, and trust me, that stinks, and it'll keep you off the ballroom floor for months! Hope you have a great time!

You'll want to wear clothes that are comfy and allow free movement without a risk of a Jacksonian "wardrobe malfunction." Avoid jeans. Eventually you'll want specialized shoes with sueded leather soles, but not for the first few weeks or months. Leather soles are much preferred, and rubber soles are dangerous. The shoes should also have a back, either full or a strap, so you won't either walk out of them or have to scrunch your toes to keep them on. Dress is casual, not grubby.

For Jazz- tan tights, leotard(any shade), jazz shorts(or pants, etc.), consistent with possibility a quick sleeved shirt or tank suited...take all of this added stuff off after heat up or purely while your feeling warm For Lyrical- any shade tights, any colored leotard, and actually that's it. you may deliver a good number of water too. and you relatively do no longer could desire to "prepare something" be4 you flow. except the instructor tells you.
