Never heard of Acronis, but here is how you check the contents of the CD without damaging your computer:

1. Open the CD tray.
2. Shut the computer off
3. Put the CD in the tray and close it. (You have to do this when the computer is off to prevent it from automatically running)
4. Turn the computer on
5. Go to "My Computer". It will either be in your start menu or on your desktop.
6. Right-click your CD drive and click "Open". Do NOT just double click on the CD drive, or the disc will auto-run its program.
7. You should have a list of all the files and folders contained on the CD. Poke around the files and see if you can figure out what they are.

Acronis is a data backup software used to save important files that can be recovered incase of a hard-drive failure/virus. Looks like the person that had the laptop last was trying to copy those files from one pc to another.
