The same thing that is happening now. Romney, McCain, and Guliani are all running on continuing the war.

It won't matter who the next president is. We are in iraq for good. Look at what happened to Japan and Germany when they fell after WW2. Our soldiers moved in and occupied those two nations and started reconstruction efforts. And guess what, we still have US soldiers stationed in those countries. Iraq will be the same way. We will not always have as many soldiers there as we do now, but our presence in Iraq is for good.

I doubt that there will be much change. I really don't foresee a complete US withdrawl even with a Democrat President because we have too large of a strategic interest in the region to leave.
Not to mention the US embassy in Baghdad (which is larger than Vatican City) is probably going to require several thousand soldiers for protection for decades to come.

It depends on who is elected. Each candidate has a different plan. One wants to break Iraq up into Sunni, Shiite, and Kurdish regions. One wants to break it up into 18 providences. One wants to break up the revenue of the oil and give 1/3 to the Iraqi federal government, 1/3 to the local Iraqi governments, and 1/3 to the population. One just wants to build up the Iraqi military force and phase them in as the US military is phased out. So it all depends.
This is my serious answer, if you are making fun of people than carry on.

I don't see a change, all GOP candidates are for continuing the war, my question for them is what is the objective for continuing the war? I'm for a candidate for ending the war by finally fighting this war to win with some realistic objectives and sound running of these objectives and the war effort itself. No more armchair machismo or propaganda.

the Iraqi war is not a republican agenda Item, it is a GWB agenda item. I think the next president, R or D, will have "leaving Iraq" on their agenda.

I predict that any Republican candidate who wins the primary will have to have an Iraq exit strategy as part of his platform. Otherwise, that candidate will be unelectable.
Now, whether he actually follows that strategy once in office is another question.

Imagine what's happening now, but 10x worse. Republicans always lose wars and Dems have to resolve them.
