I think you can give him a watch which will remain with him for longs (asceeseers said) or buy a toy, which he loved when he was child (it is fun and remember able)

A scrapbook is a great idea, but instead of just scrapbooking pictures and footprints, add stories and special things that happened during that first year so that Daddy can look back over the years and remember all those special little moments.
Another idea is to take your child to JCPENNEY or SEARS or another place that takes pictures and have new pics taken of your child. Frame it, and present it to Daddy on Father's Day. Better yet, give Daddy a gift certificate to have a photo session with just him and baby.

I got my husband a new bicycle air pump. I also went and got my daughter's pictures taken in his team cycling jersey. I've decided to get her picture taken every year in one of his jersey's. It was so cute and it will be fun to see who he was riding with and how different the jersey's fit over the years.
I also have a friend that got her husband pictures of her daughter with a bunch of his Pittsburgh Steelers stuff and dressed her in black and gold.
So, in other words, if the father has a hobby that you can use something to go get pictures in, that is my idea!

Get a piece of pretty scrapbook paper, do hand prints and foot prints of the child randomly on it, by the prints write the date. Get a recent picture and a picture of when the child was born. Frame it.
It will be something he will have for ever and it will touch his heart because it is part of his kid.

How about a collage of pictures of the little one and yourself and the child's father? Kodak Easyshare Gallery has them and they are relatively inexpensive. That and a lamp for the father's desk would be great.

I think the engraved watch is a really great gift for Dad. That could be something that the child later passes on to their children.

Take the time to show dad you really love him. Dads constantly get over looked or get that bad tie or shirt. Please get them a toy they want. A TV, MP3 player something that they really would like it. My father loves the cards and toys but my dad is awsome so that could be the difference!

A tool kit.(if he likes to work on things)
A sweater(if he's preppy)
A pocketknife(if he's outdoorsy)
Tickets to a MLB game(if he's sportsy)
JUst think of something he'll really like...it doen't necessarily have to say "#1 Dad" or anything corny like that on it.
