I have heard many differant oppinions on this, and Now I want yours!

I have seen both bands live. I think GODSMACK has a better stage show. Metallica has been around longer, and with out them, I dont think GODSMACK would be here. They both Kick ***, but I want your opinion.

i like the old metallica better than godsmack.
but i like godsmack better than the newer stuff by metallica.metallica seems to have mellowed out a little. i'm not sayin thats a bad thing.

Metallica..even though they sold out with the Black Album and I haven't bought one since...but I do have everyone they made before that. Metallica has been around much longer. I can't compare the 2 in concert for I haven't seen Godsmack..and Metallica I have seen 3x..Justice For All Tour..some tour they did with Metal Church as the opening band, and when they did the very 1st Monster's of Rock Tour many years ago...but they did put on a great show then. The one thing I do regret is not seeing Metallica with Cliff Burton or when they had Dave Mustaine from Megadeth.. Most people know Metallica from the time after they sold out..To truly compare you must listen to the old Metallica as well as the new.

Metallica, for a number of reasons. Metallica has been together for almost 30 years which is very impressive as a band. They also have more talent in writing music and in music theory in general. Their style has expanded in many different directions while Godsmack has mainly stayed in the same field forever. I've seen Godsmack in concert twice and they messed up three times at the last one I saw which was two days ago. They don't put as much effort into their songs. Also Metallica has written much longer songs but has been able to maintain the level of interest in the person listening. Metallica is much better and always will be. And to the person who said Metallica sucks because of ups and downs, go to hell, every band has ups and downs. Even Godsmack, obviously you've never been in a band and you've never known what kind of experiences bands have together. I've been in a band, there or more then just ups and downs. So go to hell. Anyway, I hope you like my answer and good luck finding a descision.

You have probably heard this before but the new Metallica sucks balls. If your going to listen to Metallica do yourself a favor and stick with the old stuff from the 80's and early 90's. Anything since then is crap. Godsmack is good but the old Metallica beats any Godsmack song

Godsmack did put on a pretty good show, but they're young still.LOL. All their music sounds the same.

They both sound the same to me nowadays. But I will say that, the old metallica (kill 'em all, ride the lightning, master of puppets, and AJFA) is better than anything Godsmack will ever do. As a matter of fact, the old metallica is better than anything metallica themselves have done since And Justice for All, and probably better than anything they'll ever do again.

Metallica.. Their music is better and people will remember them for FAR longer than Godsmack. All of Godsmacks songs are mediocre at best.

i would have to say metallica--i personally think that godsmack songs all sound the same, not to say i dont like them i just would prefer metallica over them

I really like both bands alot,but if i had to go with better probably Metallica since they have more albums
