The *correct* number of planets beyond our solar system that have been discovered is currently 236 (..http://vo.obspm.fr/exoplanetes/encyclo/encycl.html..)

The planet I think you're asking about has been getting a lot of hype from the media, but in spite of what they're all implying there's no reason at this time to believe that the planet has water on it (..necessary for life..) or that there is any life there. Here's all the data about the planet --

NAME :: Gliese 581c

PARENT STAR :: Gliese 581 (..a small red dwarf star..)

DISTANCE FROM PARENT STAR :: 6-million miles

DIAMETER :: 12,000 miles (..Earth is 7615 miles..)

MASS :: 2.94^ 25 kg (..Earth is 5.877^24 kg..)

SURFACE TEMPERATURE :: From about 32 Fahrenheit to 102 F

LENGTH of YEAR :: 13 days (..Earth is 365 days..)

The one you are referring to only has a similar temperature to earth. It's gravity is around twice that of earth and may be covered in sulfuric acid...no on knows.
