You should get some fun answers out of this question.
What you're calling 'action" movies means adventures,
mostly implied-idea level motivation movies whose content involves the possibility of either a happy or bad specific ending for the moral-ethical hero.
My three favorites are, "Veils of Bagdad"('53) "The Mask of Zorro" and "Mohawk" ('56).
