I know what you mean. We applaud the efforts of our troops, yet when they come home broken, we send them to a nightmare like Walter Reed, or just flat out ignore them.

They deserve premium care along with the recognition we give them.

America is great because of the relationships it has secured over time with entities (UN, NATO etc..) and countries around the world. We are a dominant world power financially, militarily, & technologically. If we don't get involved and maintain this balance of power to our favor our lifestyles will not be sustainable the way we experience them today. The fairness or morality of these facts is another issue. We are 20% of the worlds population consuming 80% of it's goods. Sometimes "help" can actually be aligning more benefits to our ultimate cause.
While social issues and problems in our own backyard are relevant and sometimes ignored, they undoubtedly would be amplified and more serious if our sovereignty was maintained nationally and our direct efforts and production was the only goods contributed for our direct consumption. I think our capitalistic nature puts a non humanitarian bend on priorities to be addressed and solved.

It's called "imperialism." It is a method of conquest. By putting third-world countries on American subsistence our government always has a hand in their affairs. The more dependant these "developing" nations become, the more control our government can exercise.

Usually this is a more peaceful means of effectively taking over an area or government of some strategic value. However, if the country refuses America's offer of help, it can be said that the people are not free. If they were free from their oppressive government they would gladly receive these benefits. Therefore, it becomes necessary -- in the name of freedom and democracy -- to invade these countries and overthrow the evil totalitarians. Once the government there is toppled, the society reduced to rubble and economic chaos, they are ready to receive the gift of "democracy." They now become (unofficially) a new American territory.

I think we are doing great as far as my family, I have a disabled mother-in-law that can get life flighted for free and all the medical care for free (has abused substances and is disabled partially for that), and a sister-in-law that was alone and raised 3 kids, getting all her taxes back and having better clothes than my kids and myself and goes on trips all the time (Hawaii, cruises). She is getting the money from the government. Also my aged parents saved money and guess what, they pay almost all their money from social security for medical insurance. Im tired of the people that mess their life up and I have to pay for it! Yes at least some are getting help from our government.

Quietone is right. The U.S. can gain more power if it lets the other countries know that they will give them money if they need help. Then if the U.S. wanted to start a dictatorship, the rest of the world would follow.

Because our senators and congressmen aren't doing their job. They're more concerned about hurting someone's feelings (and therefore not getting their vote and hence re-elected) than they are about taking care of us.

i have noticed that also. It seems that black and white americans are not quite noticed as much as people from diffrent countries like illegal immigrants and stuff. Eventhough im black, i still am an american because i was born in raised in tennessee. but it just seems like foreign people are getting high paying jobs in brand new mercedes and it is kind of wierd. One day, America will have no more original americans.
