I am trying to login to the ftp server through smartftp, and i have done this before with a website i had before, but i haven't used ftp in a while and I don't really remember how to login... it might be different with different hosts, but i have 1 and 1. what address do i put in and what would be my username???

then provide your user name and password to get access to your directory.

Address and username (and password) should have been provided by your hosting company. You'll have to bug them about it, to get it back or get it restored, strenuously! Once you do, set up the account in your FTP program, and set it up as a named account with a remembered password so's you'll never have to futz with it again. I had the same problem couple times. It taught me a lesson. I now go overboard. I have three FTP programs, and set them all up with the same accounts, plus I print and keep that original piece of paper from the hosting company. (I develop websites, so you may understand my paranoia...)
