No. An advanced society should be above using vengeful capital punishment on those convicted of crime. To kill the convicted is akin to bringing the Government down to the criminal's level.

No. I'm not ruling out the death penalty, but I am ruling out hanging. I recently read about 7 people who spent over 10 years of their lives on death row, only to be found innocent. I wonder how many innocent people have been executed as well!
We not live in a day and age where DNA can 100% prove whether someone is guilty or not, so that should help. However, I think there is a danger that the dealth penalty can be used incorrectly. For paedophiles, murderers and rapists, it should be compulsory.

Definitely, I would bring it back tomorrow but I will never see it again during my lifetime, no Government would have the bottle.
I would bring it back for pre-meditated murder.
I would bring it back for pre-meditated attempted murder where the victim is severely and permanently injured.
I would bring it back for any crime such as violent rape/paedophilia that causes permanent injury/damage.
Anyone (whether successful or not) who uses bombs to attempt to slaughter innocent people.
I would also bring it back for dealing in class A drugs.
In all cases, it would have to be 100% certain that the person was guilty and if there was the slightest chance of innocence, then they would be given life (just in case) without parole.
I would then bring in tough sentences (without parole) for those carrying/using weapons.
20 years for discharging a gun/using a knife.
10 years for carrying either (I cannot see a single reason for carrying unless it is to use).

Bring back the death penalty?I would for convicted murderers. In the good book it reads an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.I also believe if the people of this country had a vote the death penalty would be reintroduced. What do politicians know about the real world we live in?

George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and all 535 members of the Republican-dominated, incompetent, cowardly, contemptible, arrogant, greedy, corrupt Congress that sat back and allowed the Bush administration to run ripshod over the Constitution and illegally invade another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the U.S.A.
These 538 sub-humans should be tried for high crimes against humanity, and - if convicted - should be hanged just as they arranged for Hussein to be hanged for no justifiable reason. -RKO- 05/23/07

A civilised country should not need the death penalty.
I think Britain needs to bring back the death penalty.

that creep that stole my car radio would be first on my list
then that dog owner who did not pick up dog poo
then that plumber who never turned up to fix my shower
then.......perhaps i could just install an electric chair in my garden shed...that would cut out the middle man

Are you asking this question from here or from the UK? I believe we have a couple of states that still harbor the gallows.
