The regular season usually starts in April, right around the first of the month. Preseason takes up about a month prior to that. The post season follows directly after the regular season, beginning at the beginning of October. The World Series used to be played in October (hence the name Mr. October for Reggie Jackson), but expansion of the playoff system to include a wild card round has pushed the Series back into early November (which is why sometimes people will call Derek Jeter Mr. November).

The first half of the season occurs before the All Star break, and the second half after the All Star break. The break is 3 days long, with a day off, the All Star Game, then another day off. It is usually early in July, but does not represent the actual midway point in a team's 162 game schedule (usually occurs after halfway actually).

Many people consider different months more important than others, but a smart manager will tell you a win or loss in April counts just as much as one in September. That being said, many people like late summer baseball because they feel their is an added intensity due to the playoff race winding down, and other prefer Spring, when everyone still has a chance to compete and win, and the game is fresh for a new season again.

Baseball season officially begins usually in the first full week of April. There will usually be one game on the Sunday night, that week, which generally shows on ESPN. True beginning is that first Monday of the season, though.

Spring training games (basically practice games, which do not count in the standings) begin in early March, with about half of the teams playing in Arizona (called the Cactus League) and the other half in Florida (called the Grapefruit League).

It's a long season, 162 games per team played over about 6 months, with the World Series not deciding a winner until mid-late October. It's a great game, though, baseball's the best game in the world. Watch it as often as you can, and you'll see why so many of us are excited every year as the season approaches.

Baseball season started in early April. It is a long season with 162 games played and ends in last of September. Things really heat up September 1 when pennant races really start to shape up. You have plenty of time to watch and get into baseball with the summer approaching and the Allstar game coming up in July.

Spring Training begins in April, that is when teams are trying to get there team read, esp. pitchers and they are trying to fill up roster spots with backup players. Then the regular season begins a month later and they usually play atleast 5 days a week and then they have the all-star break in july, I think, and that is where the fans vote on allstars for both leagues and they have a bunch of activities going on for a few days highlighted by the homerun derby and the all-star game and the winner of the all-star game gets homefield advantage in the world series, which means they get more home games than their opponent. Teams battle for their division title and then there is a wild card team which is the team with the best record that doesn't win their division and you have the playoffs. The playoffs are several rounds that lead up to the world series, which is the team that wins the national league title and the american league title and they play a best of 7 series and the winner is the world champion and it all starts over again in April.

Yes it usually starts around the beginning of April, but really gets going in late summer. Lots can change between April and mid-August, but it really gets exciting after that.
