Conception at 49 is difficult for many reasons, not even taking into consideration your thyroid deficiency. There was an article on msn.com just a day or so ago about age and pregnancy. I hope you are talking closely with your gyno about TTC. 49 is still a young and vibrant age for most everything, however pregnancy isn't one of those things. See a doctor or fertility specialist and see all the options and possibilities of having a child. Most (and the article noted about 85% or so) pregnancies over the age of 40 are conceived by way of donor eggs.

IVF may be the best option, but you will need to be closely monitored. It's possible to get pregnant and have a beautiful baby at 49, but there are lots of complications that increase with age. You need to talk to a high-risk specialist, not just a regular OB/GYN. Good luck with everything, and if nothing else, adoption is always an option. Many babies are looking for a good home right now.

Unfortunately the chances of you falling pregnant at 49 are remote (even if you had no other health issues). Should you hit the jackpot and become pregnant, your chances of keeping the pregnancy are also remote. Women/girls are born with their eggs -that is - they don't produce any throughout their lifetime. Unlike men, who can father children into their eighties! The problem for you is that your eggs are old (in egg time!) and likely deteriorated and not healthy, hence the much higher risk of birth defects. I think the only way for you to achieve a healthy, viable pregnancy is through egg donation. I wish you tons of luck in whatever path you take.

You may have waited to late. At 49 you will need a lot of help from your Dr. Nature knows best, most women are through having children before the age of 49.But if you can afford it there are ways to have a baby if you are healthy enough to carry a pregnancy.

We often see hypothyroid symptoms totally reversed when commits to a plan that supports balance through nutrition and daily self-care. Learn here https://tr.im/Qewb5
Consume foods naturally high in B vitamins, such as whole grains, nuts, and seeds, and iodine (fish, seaweed, vegetables and root vegetables).
Exercise daily, at least 30–60 minutes per day, 4–5 times a week.
Practice deep breathing and other techniques that trigger the “relaxation response” – such as meditation and guided visualization.

I hate to sound cruel but your odds of pregnancy at your age are slim...mayber 25% assuming your healthy and not menopausal. At your age unfortunately, you have a high probability of having an down syndrome child due to the age of your eggs. I think your best bet is adoption or surrogacy with an egg donor. I'm sorry but that's the reality of it.

Have you considered adoption? Rather than continuing down a road that has not worked, if you really want a child then consider taking one who needs a mother. I guess it all depends on whether your desire is to have a child and love it or it is more important to carry on your genetic line. Seems to me we have plenty enough people on this planet already and lots of them need a good mother. I was adopted and it worked out great. Now I know my birth mother and that's great too. Lots of babies who need love.

thyroid deficiency is caused by lack of iodine. try your doctor and see what you can do to fix the problem. most probably your doctor will give you tablets or advise you to go for surgery. after surgery, you should be able to get pregnant. good luck ! =)

Everything happens for a reason. At 49 and with a health issue already to deal with, why would you want to risk yourself or your child potentially having extreme health issues. Seems kinda selfish to me. (Sorry) Also, being raised by older parents myself, I wish you would take the time to consider the extreme differences in generations. It was very hard for my parents and myself to see anything eye to eye. It was also very easy for me to "pull the wool over their eyes". And my parents where highly educated, upstanding individuals it was just simply the generation gap.
You shouldn't be thinking only of yourself.
