There are quite a few in the French Quarter. Lots of stories of young orphans and nuns, prostitutes, battle of 1812, etc. Lot of folklore, haunted tales down here!
I did find a lock of baby's hair under a floorboard in the attic of my friends house on Decatur st.

No, I never did have that kind of a house in any neighborhood I've lived in.
HOWEVER, at school, behind our playground, there were some woods and an old tattered shack in them. We used to think it was haunted and people were always making up stories about it. I remember one girl saying that there was a dead body locked up in there, because she got a chance to look inside. We always tried to venture off to the shack, but the teachers never would let us. LOL Oh the imagination of an elementary schooler.
Probably the most haunted thing about that shack was a huge spider lurking in the corner.

There was an abandoned house dubbed "The House Of Crying Babies" way out in the middle of nowhere in the area in which I live. In high school, we'd go out there late at night and see if the stories were true. That place creeped me out!!!! Some of the walls in the house were missing and there were old (like from decades ago) children's clothes and toys scattered everywhere. A few years ago, someone set fire to it. I'm not certain they ever found the person/people who did it.
Then there are the stories about the college I attended. There's a ton of them.

There was a house a few blocks from my house when I was about eleven and it was told that it was haunted and I did see an old woman looking out the window once and yes I did go in.. but others went with me and it was broad daylight. None of us would dare go in at dusk or at night time!

Haha, i just found out people in my neighborhood think MY HOUSE is the spooky old house. Its not in disrepair or anything, but it's hidden in the woods and nobody ever saw the previous owners. Halloween was funny last year, kids were terrified!

No. The stories about the house are pretty interesting in themselves. I don't feel the need to enter the house to see if any of the stories are true. Plus, I'm still creeped out about the fact that the house changes colors every other month yet no one is ever seen painting it.

There was, me and my friends snuck in and it was all dark and spooky, but all we found were matresses and rubbish. We heard a noise and ran out screaming!
When I think back on it now, I realise it was just an abandoned house that homeless people used to sleep in. It's been demolished now.

Back when we were younger yeah... there was this abandoned old house and a group of us finally worked up the nerve and sneaked through a window. We were all scared and jumpy trying to act like we weren't, but as it turned out it was only what it was.... an abandoned old house!!

We lived in one in Baton Rouge, LA. Actually heard the little girl laughing and playing a few times in the room with me. And my brother saw her a couple times. As I've heard the story, she was killed in the house when she was 8. It wasn't really scary...you just knew she was there.
