Isn't it disturbing that foster families for shelter dogs have to go through more intense background checks and home evaluations than foster families for orphaned children do?

yes it is disturbing!
what really saddens me is when they put a dog to sleep after they've turned away a potential adoptive parent because they didn't have a fence, or one of their dogs died once...
it's ridiculous

I was unaware of that, but do have a foster family for children a few doors down. Those two are a pair, a couple of the worst parents I have ever met.

The same goes for day-care workers and BB/BS volunteers . More money is spent on animal shelters than human shelters too. It should disturb and outrage everyone.

Yes! and they don't pay you for taking in a dog,like they do for children.

not really...what if the dog has a disease and they give it to one of those orphan kids? ever think about that?

LOL.they do that with cats too.someone called my house asking about a friend who was adopting a cat....I told them he made black market cat coats.she got really pissed.
