Yes its true that planets may align on 2012. But I don't think it will cause any effect on us. At least no gravitational effect that is.

You see our moon can cause high tide of our oceans and seas, but it does not mean that all planets can. This is because gravitational strength is inversely proportional to distance between the celestial objects.

In simple terms, that means the further a planet is the least its gravity influence. So apart from being eye-candy for star gazers and astronomers nothing else can happen when our planets align.

PS:
Our solar system has already begun aligning. You can start seeing Venus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn lining up in the evening/night sky.

There is no special planet alignment on 2012. Look up the Jupiter Effect. That was a significant alignment maybe 15 years ago and not a damn thing happened except two guys made a fortune of their BS book.

It would just be the next time all the planets line up if that is the date. All hell would break loose only for those that have telescopes and want to see all the planets really close together.
It happens quite frequently, at least in astronomical time. Don't go quiting your job or getting married on a lark.

The planets are aligning in one way or another all the time, and absolutely nothing happens because they're so far apart and far away. Nothing out of the ordinary is prredicted to occur in 2012.

According to the Mayans, the most accurate time keepers known to man, the "end of the age" is set for Dec 2012. The program on the History channel is call "Doomday 2012".

The Mayans said that the planets would align on that day (Dec 21st) and cause a catastrophic shift in the Earth. No one really know what this means though because the Mayans based this on their worldview at the time.

Lastly, the difference between this information and othe "doomsday theories" is the science supporting it. Empirical studies have shown that the Mayans have been extremely accurate with their predictions. As for things like Y2K, did people really think man would allow something to destroy them that they control?

Don't think that Bush and these other rich folks are looking for another planet as a vacation spot. They know what's coming.

Galactic Alignment is true. Hell breaking out is not. Unless your definition of hell is a couple of loonies standing in a field anticipating the apocalypse being disappointed to wake up with nothing changed?

The Sun is due to align with the Galactic Equator as a result of precession of equinoxes. The estimated zone for alignment is 1998 +/- 18 years (1980-2016) and occurs once every 26,000 years.

There is a show on Discovery (I think) about 2012 and the end of the world. I didn't watch it though. Wasn't the world supposed to end in 1990, 1999, 2000 etc?

Just let me know for sure, because I will run my credit cards to the max. I could do a year at Atlantis!!!!!!

No, in a word. Even if there were an alignment, there won't be 'all hell' breaking loose.

Planetary alignment of any sort will have no effect on planet Earth.
