They brought in a fishing rod licence in Ireland many years ago, for each rod you were required to have a seperate licence.

Many Anglers prefered to be arrested and refused to pay the fines, so the prisons were filled with fishermen.

The minister who bought in the law tried to argue that hunters needed a licence, where the counter point that was offered, was, that gun licences were there to ensure that guns were in the hands of legitimate people and not criminals and when was the last time somebody tried to rob a bank with a fishing rod :-p

Happy to say the rod law was scrapped after that.

He is an MP voted in democratically using the first past the post system is he not? Therefore any actions he undertakes hold a mandate from those that elected him thus they are democratic.
