The progressive agenda in 1900 included: a graduated income tax, shorter working hours, labor laws protecting children, the protection of the public from bad food and drugs, tighter regulation of commerce, "free silver" (a currency issue), prohibition, and women's right to vote. Many of these issues were embraced by the Republican Party, which hadn't yet become the party of conservatives.
