Don't really have an answer to your question cause it varies from shop to shop. Your location is a factor too. Just a comment on repairing the timing chain. Timing belt and Timing chains should not be repaired. They should be replaced together with the adjusters. If you found a shop that repairs timing chains, I advice against it. It would cost you more in the long run. If the repaired chain gives way, it could damage your valve tappets. Engine swap anyone? :)

Timing chains normally do not need replacement if the engine oil has been changed regularly. But timing belts need replacement periodically (see Gates listing below for your model car) and cost $500 typically depending on whether you change the water pump and tensioner pulley at the same time.

Well if it is a true Timing Chain you don't have to replace it. If it is a timing Belt it really depends on the make and model to how much they are going to charge you. Find out from a reliable mechanic and then go from there. Timing belts should be changed out about every 60K miles.

The actual belt will cost around 20 bucks but the labor could run about $400.

It depends on what model and year were talking about. Dealerships will charge TOP dollar! I`m sure you knew that though.
